BIG TIME RUSH leaves them screaming in Camden…
Popular group from Nickelodeon TV makes big impression with all of their fans
Concert Review By Frank Chille
The sold-out Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, was the scene of screaming young girls and excited parents; who came to town? Big Time Rush, of course, and they did not disappoint their legions of fans in the least.
The pop star group (boy band if you prefer), made up of members Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos Pena, have taken Nickelodeon TV by storm. Their top-rated show has just been renewed for a 4th season; and when this was announced during a break in the concert, there was a thunderous applause that sounded like an earthquake hit the Delaware Valley.
The concert itself was an incredible show of high-energy, plus up-close-and personal interaction with the thousands of fans in attendance…so close in fact, that at one point during the show the boys actually left the stage and started singing and dancing right in the middle of the audience! Needless to say the young crowd (including my niece Kaitlyn) ate it all up.
Big Time Rush displayed that same energy within the confines of the stage as well; they were all over the place, jumping up and down on what appeared be a trampoline, while their popular music videos played on the various huge TV screens in the arena. The guys really appeared to be having fun while singing all of their hit songs, including “Music Sounds Better with You”, “Boyfriend”, and “Any Kind of Guy” (and you know what? these guys can really sing…and judging from all the screams in the audience, the boys could have been singing “the Star-Spangled Banner” and still receive the same standing ovations).
The concert was everything you would expect a boy band concert to be: girls wearing oversize t-shirts of their favorite singers, hand-made posters galore by the fans expressing their undying love for the band, Tweets everywhere….and of course the guys bringing one or two lucky girls on stage to serenade; where have I seen this before? I guess things have not really changed that much since the days of the New Kids on the Block, The Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and LFO (except for the Tweets of course; no Twitter back in those days).
Boy Bands are hot right now; groups like The Wanted and One Direction are at the top of the pop charts, and Big Time Rush is right up there with them. The show is fun, refreshing, and great entertainment for the whole family (yes mom and dad; you will have as much fun watching these guys perform as your kids do).
Big Time Rush is in the middle of a HUGE concert tour; please check out the band’s official website at http://www.bigtimetour.com/ to find all of the cities this amazing group will be appearing in.
